Crash alerts and improved notifications in the monitor

Our monitor is a safety dashboard for the head office of endurance races. This tool provides real-time data directly from the race course to verify the participants' situation and to support making precise decisions within seconds. During this season a growing number of rally events use this solution to monitor the drivers' safety. Due to this specific use case, we were asked to feature automated crash detection.

Now, in Tracker Management crash alerts can be activated for Pro GPS tracker. The setting parameters are the sensitivity and the revoke time. Crash detection is highlighted in the monitor (same as the SOS alert). Recipients for alert emails can be defined, too.

We improved the alert and notification stream, also. Now, notifications of the same category are stacked for each device. The latest notification is shown on top, users can navigate through the messages and copy related coordinates.

Participants list reworked

We enhanced the list with the Participants Data in the event settings. The style is cleaner, the list loads much faster and you are able to work more efficiently. The two major improvements are

  • The list flexibly spreads to full display size and
  • The menu shows the number of entries.

Tool to show live data in the browser

Since we are providing live geodata through APIs two years ago, we have been asked for a handy tool to extract specific values such as speed, distance to go, gap or away from track etc.

In most cases, a TV production has no time to develop or adapt their solution feeding the overlay with live data from our API. Now you can use our handy and flexible grabber tool to directly display specific live data in a browser tab. We are looking forward to learning more about your use cases and how you are going to apply this solution.

Read more about this solution in our documentation: https://docs.racemap.com/data-api/grabber

Set default filter for visualization

We added the option to preset filters for the visualization. When setting the "none" status as the default filter, the tracking map will initially hide participants with a DSQ or DNF status tag. Spectators watching the visualization can adjust the filter in the tracking map, also.

Participants import reworked

We reworked the participants section in the settings of each tracking map. Now, it is much clearer how to import respectively synchronize Participants Data with CSV files or from hosted (recommended) sources such as RACE RESULT or your own server.

  • To better control the import you can switch on & -off the synchronization from a hosted source.
  • The synchronization stops calling the hosted source three days after the end time of the tracking map, automatically.
  • You can synchronize participant data from different sources with the same tracking map.
  • You can automatically call the participant data in your tracking map from the given API endpoint, also.
  • You can import participants from RACE RESULT without a transponder code. We removed the requirement for transponder1 field.

Basic event settings

We improved the basic settings when creating your live tracking. The enhancements let you even faster create the live tracking you want and meet the needs of your sports event. This update provides these features:

  • Better overview of the add-on section.
  • highlighting activated add-ons and additionally showing if an add-on is switched on or off right at the moment.
  • Structure the sidebar according to priorities and main topics.
  • Started adding helpful information to the sidebar, like if an add-on is activated and if add-on is switched on.

SOS email

In most cases, our monitor dashboard is used to increase the safety of endurance sports events. Usually, the monitor is streamed on a large screen in the race office.

Users asked for better targeting of the SOS alerts from GPS trackers. Hence we published a feature to send detailed SOS notification emails which perfectly works on smartphones.

When a participant presses the SOS button of its GPS tracker the editors of the tracking map receive a short email summarizing relevant information:

  • name of the event (to keep an overview when multiple events are running at the same time),
  • participant's name & bib number,
  • time, when the participant pressed the SOS button on the GPS device,
  • name of the device in the tracker management
  • link to the corresponding monitor with additional data such as the last known location to verify the situation in the race
  • exact coordinates of the SOS alert, to copy and past and forward to the helicopter team
  • maps showing the overview

The SOS email is sent a couple of hours before and after the event start- and end time

  • if monitor  add-on is activated for the event and
  • if the GPS device is active in the tracker management

New navigation in tracking map

We reworked the navigation panel of the interactive race visualization. Now the user interface is more intuitive and provides exciting new features. The enhancements improve the useability of Racemap tracking apps, too.

  • Selection of contests and stages
  • Selection and highlight of tracks and lines
  • Separate buttons for points of interest and for athletes
  • Filter added to athletes
  • Stronger highlighting of flags due to size difference

Information about events in tracker management

We added new features to the Tracker Management, which let you quickly select multiple GPS tracker used for a specific event. This way for example you can target commands to those devices that are used for your half marathon. With the new "events" column, you can filter your GPS trackers according to your tracking maps. The column shows the number of events in which the device is assigned and you can hover the events' names.

Contest selector added to navigation bar

We reworked the interactive race VISUALIZATION and moved the option to select contests & stages to the navigation bar. Selecting, searching, & filtering the participants, points of interest, and contests in a tracking map can be applied in one place.

The main advantages of this improvement are:

  • Cleaner and more intuitive user interface in group- & in stage maps.
  • More space to show the map as the contest selector does not overlay the map anymore.
