Custom Icons for Points of Interest and Splits

You can now upload custom icons for Points of Interest (POIs) and for Splits on the tracking map. Use the "Add Custom Icon" option in the map settings to easily upload and apply your icons.

This feature is designed to give you more control over the appearance of your live tracking, making it easier to match your branding or event-specific themes.

Important fixes and enhancements

Our latest update addresses several issues and brings new improvements to our platform.

Safety Monitor Fixes

  • Issue Resolution: We've fixed several issues in our safety monitor that emerged with the new "resolve alert"-functionality. Thanks to your swift feedback we were able to quickly address the bug.

Tracker Management Enhancements

  • Improved Message Handling: We now ensure a message is complete before showing the acknowledgment (ACK). This mechanic prevents the "complete" status from being shown multiple times for the same message.
  • Revoke Messages for Borrower Role: We've added the ability for users with the borrower role to revoke messages within the tracker management, giving the borrowers of your GPS trackers more control and you have more peace of mind.
  • Enhanced Search Functionality: The device ID is now included as a value in the search filed, making it easier to find and manage specific devices.

Expanded API capabilities enhance device monitoring

We’ve enhanced our current API to offer greater flexibility when building your own applications. This update introduces new device parameters, giving you more control and insights for effectively monitoring your GPS trackers:

New device object parameters:

  • externalId - A unique identifier for the tracking device, which can be an IMEI, transponder ID, or app ID, depending on the device type.
  • battery - Indicates the charge level of the device as a percentage, allowing you to monitor the autonomy of your devices.
  • online - Displays the connection status with the RACEMAP server by checking if there's an active socket connection and evaluating the time since the last message was received.
  • lastLocationGpsFix - Shows whether the device had a GPS fix when recording the latest coordinate, providing insight into the accuracy of the tracking data.
  • lastLocationAt - The timestamp in UTC when the latest coordinate was recorded.

These enhancements empower you to create more robust and responsive applications with direct access to critical device information. Learn more about the current API in our documentation https://docs.racemap.com/data-api/current#device-object

Enhancements to the safety dashboard and the tracker management

Our latest release brings powerful improvements to our sports tracking platform:

Improved safety monitor

  • User login: The monitor now supports user login functionality. Only authorized personnel can access and manage critical safety features.
  • Resolve alerts: Alerts such as SOS, away from track, battery, ... can now be resolved directly in the monitor. The monitor saves the information, of which account resolved an specific alert.

These improvements are particularly beneficial for race headquarters, where multiple people are involved in operations. By introducing user-specific logins, we aim to clearly define and address the responsibility for safety, ensuring that each action is tracked and managed efficiently.

Find more information about our safety dashboard in the documentation: https://docs.racemap.com/how-to-use-live-tracking/monitor

Enhanced command filtering in tracker management

  • Type & filter: We've made it easier for you to find and select the right commands within the tracker management system. You can now type directly into the command field, and the corresponding messages will be automatically filtered.
  • Save time: With over 30 predefined commands available, this feature saves you time and simplifies the process of setting up your devices.

Fixes for groups

We've resolved issues related to adding new events and changing the sequence of events in stages and group events.

Import RACE RESULT readers to tracker management

You can now import RACE RESULT readers such as Track Boxes & decoders into the tracker management.

There are several scenarios for using RACE RESULT hardware for live tracking:

  • Deploy Track Boxes (instead of GPS trackers) to display the current location of the leader and the followers during a cycling race.
  • Visualize decoders' current locations on a map to check if the hardware is placed at the right location at the race course.

How to import RACE RESULT readers

1. Generate API key:

  • Log in to your RACE RESULT account.
  • Generate an API key. For detailed instructions, please visit the RACE RESULT knowledge base. https://www.raceresult.com/en-us/support/kb?id=22007-API-Key

2. Add API key to RACEMAP:

  • Go to your RACEMAP profile https://racemap.com/admin/account/
  • Paste the generated API key into the designated field in your profile.

3. Import readers to tracker dashboard:

  • Navigate to your tracker management page
    https://racemap.com/admin/trackers/add
  • Select from the devices associated with your RACE RESULT account to import.
  • View and manage your imported Track Boxes and decoders in Racemap's tracker management system, which provides information such as battery and connection status.

Enhancements to your Racemap experience

Our latest release brings a series of improvements that elevate your Racemap experience, focusing on data APIs, tracker management, and synchronization of participant data.

Enhanced data APIs

Our data APIs now provide the location data from your GPS devices, independent of the settings in the tracking map such as interpolation interval and live delay. This allows for greater flexibility in fine-tuning the data API and visualizing of the same tracking map and for higher accuracy when detecting a device in a geofence. For more details, please refer to our documentation: https://docs.racemap.com/data-api

Participant data synchronization

The participants tab now displays the participants synchronized from RACE RESULT with an icon, making it easier to identify and manage them. Learn how to import participant data from RACE RESULT to your Racemap event through

  • List import https://docs.racemap.com/api-import-and-export-data/import-basics/metadata-api#race-result-lists
  • Simple API https://docs.racemap.com/api-import-and-export-data/import-basics/metadata-import-via-rr

Tracker management enhancements

  • Direct track chart access: We've added the option to access the track chart directly from the tracker table.
  • Saved table settings: Your table settings in the tracker management are now saved, so when you return, you'll find your previous settings intact.

Additionally, with the latest release, the maintenance panel in groups & stages appears only when working with a custom tracking app. If you are not using a custom app, the panel remains hidden, providing a cleaner and more intuitive interface. https://docs.racemap.com/how-to-use-live-tracking/multi-event-map

Increase autonomy of trackers

Our tracker dashboard now provides four commands to reduce communication and maximize the autonomy of Quecklink GL3xx LTE GPS trackers. You can significantly increase the running time of your device by minimizing the communication between the device and the server.

Apply the four commands for optimal autonomy:

  • Deactivate (Device) Events
  • Deactivate Heartbeat
  • Deactivate Server Acknowledge
  • Disable the periodical Device Info Report

Optimized slug creation for your tracking maps

We have released an enhancement in the way we create slugs for our tracking maps, ensuring uniqueness and relevance for each event.

  • The slug is created when you activate the tracking map, ensuring that each activated map has a relevant identifier. Note that slugs will not be created for trials.
  • The slug is generated from the event name.
  • If a slug generated from the event name already exists, the start date of the event will be appended, too.

Link devices in participant list with tracker management

We've released a series of updates to enhance the integration between the participant list in the event settings with the tracker management. These improvements aim to increase the efficiency and ease of conducting live tracking with GPS trackers at your events.

Direct access to GPS trackers

Enhanced linkage: You can now access all GPS trackers or a specific device directly from the participant list.

State display: The participant list now shows the state of each device in the tracker management. If a tracker is not yet added to your account, you can do so seamlessly from the participant list, too.

Track chart relocation

Event Tab: The track chart is moved to the event tab.

Improved communication with Queclink devices

Issue fix: We have resolved an issue related to the communication of Queclink GL3yy devices when working without a response ID (cannot be acknowledged). If three attempts are reached, these messages will no longer generate an error record.
