Improved Network Transparency, Prediction Insights, Safemap Accuracy

Tracker Management

Enhancement

To give operators better insight into connectivity of their GPS trackers and carrier behavior, we’ve added new network-related visibility:

  • New Network tab in Tracker Management
  • Carrier and network information is now also displayed in the track chart

These additions help diagnose connectivity issues faster and support more informed operational decisions such as black listing a specifc carrier during live tracking.

Fix

The tracker management now shows the correct timestamp for when a device goes offline or when the socket connection is closed.

📘 Full details: https://docs.racemap.com/tracker-management

Predictive Tracking

A new column has been added to the Transponders tab, showing the total number of received reads during the race. This makes data completeness and transponder performance easier to assess at a glance.

📘 Full details: https://docs.racemap.com/prediction

Safemap

The chart in Safemap now displays elevation data based on the actual received GPS position of the selected tracker, rather than the predefined race course.

Why this matters: If a participant moves off the official course, the elevation information now remains accurate and reflects the real position — improving situational awareness for operators.

New Release: Advancing Tracking Reliability

This release introduces further enhancements across our sports tracking platform, improving tracking reliability and operational confidence.

Safemap: More Context, Better Decisions

Safemap now supports multiple map styles, including satellite view, allowing operators to choose the most suitable visual context for their environment and operational needs.

Tracker Management: More Insight Into Connectivity

Reliable live tracking depends heavily on connection quality — which is impacted SIM reception, modem behavior, and carrier performance. To support operators more effectively, we are rolling out a series of improvements that provide deeper insight into connectivity and help debugging potential issues earlier.

With this release:

  • Signal strength is now visible for each tracker of the Queclink GL3xx series.
  • The chart has been extended with network-related information.

These enhancements give operators clearer visibility into connection quality and form the foundation for upcoming reliability improvements.

This is the first step in a broader effort where we’ll continue to introduce tools and capabilities designed to improve tracking stability — including closer integration and collaboration around our dedicated M2M SIM cards.

New updates - predictive tracking, tracker management, and Safemap (beta)

RACEMAP is a live tracking platform for professionals in the sports events industry. This release improves usability, reliability, and scalability with focused workflow and stability enhancements - not new specs. We provide a bundle of improvements across predictive tracking, tracker management, Queclink GL3xx socket reliability, and the Safemap (beta). Expect a cleaner predictive tracking UI, clearer reads → shadowtrack mappings, communications fixes for Queclink GL3xx, and practical UX & reliability improvements to Safemap.

Predictive tracking

  • Sticky header: Predictive tracking view now pins the main tabs (Status, Readers, ...) so they stay accessible while you scroll and inspect details.
  • Single, switchable chart: We replaced two charts with one chart that lets you swap X & Y axes for faster, clearer comparisons.
  • One read, multiple mappings: A single read can map to multiple locations on the shadowtrack. Mappings that come from the same read are color-linked, so you instantly see grouped mappings.
  • Clear mapping states:
    • Rejected read: Read could not be mapped to a location on the shadowtrack.
    • Unused mapping: The mapping is not used for predictive calculations.

All information about live tracking from timekeeping data in our documentation: https://docs.racemap.com/prediction

Tracker management (Queclink GL3xx)

We've tuned the communication mechanics between the RACEMAP platform and Queclink GL3xx devices.

  • Better cleanup behavior: Messages sometimes lacked full history so errors weren’t reliably detected. We now pass full message history so cleanup and error checks behave correctly.
  • Fixed ACK origin: ACK origin is now passed to messages as a flag, so ACKs are interpreted correctly.
  • Socket behavior & reliable online state: We dug into socket / online-state edge cases and addressed that trackers sometimes considered sockets “online” after closure and kept trying to send messages.

Read all about our dashboard to work with many GPS trackers at a scale: https://docs.racemap.com/tracker-management

Safemap (beta)

Thanks to everyone who tested Safemap. Your feedback guided these practical improvements. If you want to try Safemap instead of the Monitor add-on, send us a message and we’ll enable it for your event(s).

  • Order: Values used to be compared as strings (causing odd ordering); now numerical order.
  • Low-battery alerts show %: Battery percentage is extracted from alert info and displayed when hovering the alert.
  • Charging state: Devices that are charging are now indicated.
  • Starter state (DNF, DSQ, etc.) is shown so you can, for example, ignore alerts from finished starters.
  • Chart zoom persists: Zoom level no longer resets on every re-render; zoom state is stored so the view remains stable.
  • (Un)Lock “follow path”: Added a lock/unlock for map and chart follow behavior. When unlocked, the map resets to the starter’s current position; when locked you can hover the chart without the map snapping back.

Bug fixes & polish

Thanks for reporting these — many small but important fixes went out:

  • Fix: time selector in the tracker chart.
  • Fix: batch GPX download failing when one file in the batch is empty.
  • Misc: various stability and usability improvements across Predictive Tracking, Monitor, and Safemap.

Scaling Smarter: Tracking & Management Updates

We’ve released a round of improvements that make our sports tracking platform more flexible, more reliable, and easier to manage at scale. Every change is built on what we’ve learned from real-event usage and your feedback. We know RACEMAP has to scale that as your events grow.

Smarter Predictive Tracking

We’ve refined how we interpret raw data from the timing system. This solution reduces required settings for the timekeepers. So they can focus more on your participants’ experience.

Start Times

Observations: Previously, defining a too early start time caused dropping of valid readings as “too slow.”

Solution: We’ve removed the fragile, user-defined start-time setup. Instead, RACEMAP now detects the start of each participant automatically from the raw data. This reduces human error and flexibly adapts to a wide variety of event formats.

Finish Times

We’ve also implemented an auto-finish detection from raw data to ensure clean, accurate results: Finish reads are now automatically detected and added for smoother replays.

Improved M20 Tracker Communication

Some of our Indonesian users rely on superspring M20 trackers, which faced issues due to the GPS week rollover (a ~19.7-year reset of GPS time). This caused timestamps to appear ~20 years too early.

We’ve added a correction protocol so that M20 trackers now report accurate, real-world dates. This ensures historical consistency and keeps your live data aligned with reality.

Scalable Tracker & Role Management

For teams and organizations that rent out trackers across seasons or manage large pools of devices, assigning and reviewing roles is now much easier. With our new approach it is much easier to control devices' access tracking the tracker management.

  • When selecting multiple trackers, you can now view all users and their roles across them.
  • If a user isn’t linked to a tracker, the role shows as "None".
  • Identical roles (e.g., Owner, Editor, Borrower) across trackers are consolidated for clarity.
  • Edge cases (like multiple Editor assignments) are displayed transparently.

Bulk Role Management

  • Assign roles to multiple users at once across multiple trackers.
  • Remove users from several trackers simultaneously.
  • Quick role edits are now possible by clicking directly on a user’s role.

This update reduces administrative overhead, making tracker management scalable and future-proof for growing event organizations.

Tracker Server Migration – Action Required by July 31

We’re upgrading our GPS tracker connection service to a new, highly scalable server infrastructure that has been proven reliable for over two years. As part of this improvement, the previous server will be shut down on July 31, 2025.

To ensure uninterrupted connectivity and accurate tracking, please check and update the server settings for your GPS trackers. This update is quick and easy to complete in the Tracker Management dashboard, where we’ve also added helpful new features to support you during the transition.

Tracker Management

What You Need to Do

  1. Log in to the Tracker Management dashboard.
  2. Compare your devices’ current connection settings with the new configuration.
  3. If needed, update the settings remotely with just a few clicks.

🔧 Configuration Settings

Device typeDomain / IPPort
Devices supporting DNSracemap.com5000
All other devices 116.203.167.1415000

💡 Built-in Support for a Smooth Update

To make this transition as simple as possible, we’ve added two new columns - “Domain” & “Port” - to the tracker table in the dashboard. These let you instantly check many devices whether they are already using the correct configuration.

🔄 Automatic Configuration for Select Models

If you use Queclink GL3xx, Mictrack, or LK106 devices, no manual action is needed. These models automatically connect to the new server as soon as they are online and linked with the Tracker Management.

🛠️ Remote Update via Custom Command

For all other models, use the “Custom Command” option to remotely set the new domain and port parameters. Just apply the appropriate protocol for your device - it's quick and flexible compared to sending SMSs or using a data cable for configuration.

Enhancements in the tracker management

We’re excited to introduce a suite of enhancements to the Tracker Management dashboard designed to give you clearer insights and smoother workflows with your GPS trackers.

Hidden Tabs Made Visible

The details component now highlights when certain tabs are invisible. Simply hover over the “...” indicator to reveal which tabs aren’t currently displayed, so you or the account to whom you've lent your GPS devices never miss an important metric.

Transparent Offline Reason

We’ve overhauled how we determine and display a device’s connection state. Now, if a tracker goes offline, you’ll see the reason - such as “TCP connection to RACEMAP closed” - ensuring you have accurate information at your fingertips. This clarity helps you diagnose connectivity issues faster.

Dynamic Sorting Across Connection, Data & More

Sorting the devices table now works more intuitively. Whether you’re looking at connection or other time-based metrics, the dashboard will automatically order entries according to the age of the information.
