SOS settings column added

We’ve introduced new features and improvements to ensure better safety for your participants during events.

RACEMAP Safety Monitor sends SOS- and crash alert emails to tracking map editors and additional recipients you’ve specified. To enable the SOS feature, ensure the functional button of Queclink GL3xx devices is activated.

New Functional Button Column: The Tracker Management now includes a dedicated column that shows whether the functional button on your Queclink GL3xx devices is enabled. This helps you easily spot devices with unintentionally disabled SOS buttons, ensuring all devices are event-ready.

Additionally, we’ve added options to customize the table in Tracker Management, allowing you to display additional tracker settings, such as:

  • Info report
  • Heartbeat
  • Report interval
  • And many more!

These options make it easy to compare & verify that your trackers are set up correctly according to your event requirements.

Important fixes and enhancements

Our latest update addresses several issues and brings new improvements to our platform.

Safety Monitor Fixes

  • Issue Resolution: We've fixed several issues in our safety monitor that emerged with the new "resolve alert"-functionality. Thanks to your swift feedback we were able to quickly address the bug.

Tracker Management Enhancements

  • Improved Message Handling: We now ensure a message is complete before showing the acknowledgment (ACK). This mechanic prevents the "complete" status from being shown multiple times for the same message.
  • Revoke Messages for Borrower Role: We've added the ability for users with the borrower role to revoke messages within the tracker management, giving the borrowers of your GPS trackers more control and you have more peace of mind.
  • Enhanced Search Functionality: The device ID is now included as a value in the search filed, making it easier to find and manage specific devices.

Expanded API capabilities enhance device monitoring

We’ve enhanced our current API to offer greater flexibility when building your own applications. This update introduces new device parameters, giving you more control and insights for effectively monitoring your GPS trackers:

New device object parameters:

  • externalId - A unique identifier for the tracking device, which can be an IMEI, transponder ID, or app ID, depending on the device type.
  • battery - Indicates the charge level of the device as a percentage, allowing you to monitor the autonomy of your devices.
  • online - Displays the connection status with the RACEMAP server by checking if there's an active socket connection and evaluating the time since the last message was received.
  • lastLocationGpsFix - Shows whether the device had a GPS fix when recording the latest coordinate, providing insight into the accuracy of the tracking data.
  • lastLocationAt - The timestamp in UTC when the latest coordinate was recorded.

These enhancements empower you to create more robust and responsive applications with direct access to critical device information. Learn more about the current API in our documentation https://docs.racemap.com/data-api/current#device-object

Enhancements to the safety dashboard and the tracker management

Our latest release brings powerful improvements to our sports tracking platform:

Improved safety monitor

  • User login: The monitor now supports user login functionality. Only authorized personnel can access and manage critical safety features.
  • Resolve alerts: Alerts such as SOS, away from track, battery, ... can now be resolved directly in the monitor. The monitor saves the information, of which account resolved an specific alert.

These improvements are particularly beneficial for race headquarters, where multiple people are involved in operations. By introducing user-specific logins, we aim to clearly define and address the responsibility for safety, ensuring that each action is tracked and managed efficiently.

Find more information about our safety dashboard in the documentation: https://docs.racemap.com/how-to-use-live-tracking/monitor

Enhanced command filtering in tracker management

  • Type & filter: We've made it easier for you to find and select the right commands within the tracker management system. You can now type directly into the command field, and the corresponding messages will be automatically filtered.
  • Save time: With over 30 predefined commands available, this feature saves you time and simplifies the process of setting up your devices.

Fixes for groups

We've resolved issues related to adding new events and changing the sequence of events in stages and group events.

Exciting enhancements in latest release

Our latest release brings you more enhancements & improvements to elevate your sports live tracking.

1. Filter tags in the monitor

Following the success of filter tags in the tracking map & the leaderboard, we've now added the filter feature to our monitor. This empowers you to streamline your monitoring process and quickly filter relevant information. Read more about our safety dashboard in our documentation: https://docs.racemap.com/how-to-use-live-tracking/monitor

FIN status in monitor

We've unveiled a valuable addition to our Safety Monitor to improve your monitoring capabilities. Our new FIN status supports responsible individuals in the race office and sharpens their focus on critical scenarios on the race course.

How to utilize the FIN status

The FIN status is straightforward. When participants cross the finish line, and Racemap platform receives their finish reads from the timing system, the Safety Monitor automatically tags them FIN. The FIN tag speeds up the identification of participants who are still out at the race, saving time and effort.

Advantages of FIN status

Efficient monitoring: Say goodbye to manual tracking of participants who have finished the race. Our system now handles this task for you, ensuring a more efficient way to filter relevant participants.

Enhanced Focus: With the option to hide participants tagged with the FIN status, you can seamlessly redirect your attention to those who are still actively racing ("NO STATE"). This feature maintains a clear and focused view of the event, allowing you to concentrate on the participants who require your immediate attention.

For more detailed information on utilizing the Racemap Safety Monitor, we encourage you to explore our documentation, specifically the section on "How to Use Live Tracking Monitor." You can find this information at the following link https://docs.racemap.com/how-to-use-live-tracking/monitor.

Parameters added to adjust the mapping

We've added parameters to flexibly adjust the mapping algorithm to the specific needs of your event:

  • Max. mapping distance
  • Max. and Min speed for speedfilter

This will allow for more accurate mapping, and we are sure it will be a helpful addition for your event. Access the mapping parameters in the "Danger Zone" of the advanced settings of your event.

The mapping impacts all functions and features in Racemap that calculate the relation of the devices' locations to the shadowtrack. Which are visualization, leaderboard, monitor, */ranks & */current API.

How does the mapping work? GPS devices send their geo data to a specific tracking map. The mapping calculates the device's location on the shadowtrack. The algorithm takes into account the device's current coordinates and its previous location on the track. Mapping considers laps and assumes that a device moves onwards (and not backward) on the track.

Crash alerts and improved notifications in the monitor

Our monitor is a safety dashboard for the head office of endurance races. This tool provides real-time data directly from the race course to verify the participants' situation and to support making precise decisions within seconds. During this season a growing number of rally events use this solution to monitor the drivers' safety. Due to this specific use case, we were asked to feature automated crash detection.

Now, in Tracker Management crash alerts can be activated for Pro GPS tracker. The setting parameters are the sensitivity and the revoke time. Crash detection is highlighted in the monitor (same as the SOS alert). Recipients for alert emails can be defined, too.

We improved the alert and notification stream, also. Now, notifications of the same category are stacked for each device. The latest notification is shown on top, users can navigate through the messages and copy related coordinates.

SOS email

In most cases, our monitor dashboard is used to increase the safety of endurance sports events. Usually, the monitor is streamed on a large screen in the race office.

Users asked for better targeting of the SOS alerts from GPS trackers. Hence we published a feature to send detailed SOS notification emails which perfectly works on smartphones.

When a participant presses the SOS button of its GPS tracker the editors of the tracking map receive a short email summarizing relevant information:

  • name of the event (to keep an overview when multiple events are running at the same time),
  • participant's name & bib number,
  • time, when the participant pressed the SOS button on the GPS device,
  • name of the device in the tracker management
  • link to the corresponding monitor with additional data such as the last known location to verify the situation in the race
  • exact coordinates of the SOS alert, to copy and past and forward to the helicopter team
  • maps showing the overview

The SOS email is sent a couple of hours before and after the event start- and end time

  • if monitor  add-on is activated for the event and
  • if the GPS device is active in the tracker management
