See the real thing, sooner

The race visualization draws map tiles and courses faster while location data is downloading in the background, and the Sponsor tab shows a logo rotation preview. Together with a smarter default range in the Connection Chart, you spend less time waiting and guessing.

What's new

The tracking map appears in seconds, even for ten thousands of participants

In our interactive race visualization courses, points of interest and map tiles now render when they are ready, instead of waiting for the download of every participant's position. At a large sports event, the tracking map kept loading up to 15 seconds — now it is there in 5 seconds or even less, map tiles follow a moment later, and participant markers drop in as their geo data arrives.

For spectators, opening a tracking map on a phone, this improvement shows between a blank loading screen and a race they can already watch. The same applies to an embedded event player you put on your own websites. Test it here: https://racemap.com/player/ddm25

New preview for sponsor logos

In the event settings, the Sponsor tab shows a new preview for all logos. Switch between Player & Leaderboard, and desktop & mobile view. The header tells you the number of logos in each frame. The logo rotation itself got improved: logos now appear in your order, so drag-and-drop sets the sequence. A logo that does not fit in one frame is skipped and shown later instead of blocking the line behind it. Check our documentation on how logos are shown on desktop and mobile.

The Connection Chart opens on the relevant period

In Tracker Management, the Connection Chart now shows the last 24 hours while your GPS tracker was online. Previously, the range ended at the last connect, which cut off the latest tracker information. In the Connection Chart, the network layer shows detailed network information

  • radio type (GSM, 3G, LTE, or 5G),
  • cell ID,
  • Mobile Country Code (MCC),
  • Mobile Network Code (MNC),
  • Location Area Code (LAC).

The network layer is provided for our M2M SIM cards. Debugging GPS devices describes both the new default range and the SIM requirement.

Participant counts you can check against your start list

In the event settings your event list now shows the exact participant number — 12,345, and not 1.2K. The same goes for all counts in the RACE RESULT import preview. At these two places, you can easily verify a sync against your real participant list, while rounded figures bring uncertainty. Everywhere else, counts stay compact for readability, but show the exact value through the hover.

No more dead ends into empty participant lists

A contest group don't hold participants — they live in its single events. But, in the back office, three paths led into an empty participant list: the count in the event list linked there, the SYNC tag linked there, and the direct URL opened a blank tab. We have fixed that issue.

Now the count on a contest-group row is plain text, the SYNC tag is suppressed, and opening the participants URL for a contest group takes you to its Basic tab instead. The hint in the Participants section points you at the contests, which is where the names actually are. More about the grout of single events in our documentation: https://docs.racemap.com/live-tracking/multi-event-map.

Know when the data APIs return live positions

The Data APIs overview now spells out the three conditions that must hold before the APIs can return live data:

  • the API module has to be active,
  • the location has to fall between the start- and end time and
  • the location has to fall inside the participant's specific start and finish window.

Each condition is documented with what actually comes back when it fails — an error, or empty current fields. If you build alerts, TV graphics, or a results page on top of our APIs, these are the reasons explaining why a participant is missing from a response.
